Here you will find information about Ozzie's Assembly Shows and how your school can book a show. Each page has a description about the shows, with links to pages around the world that carry further information about these subjects.

Children who have seen these shows can have the opportunity to test their knowledge on what they learned, play games online, and write to Ozzie (but be aware, Ozzie receives so much mail, he might not have a chance to answer each and every one of you, even though he does read all his mail!)

Ozzie Tollefson is a former teacher who makes learning fun! Since 1975, he has given over 6,000 performances in 1,500 schools in 17 states.

There are presently seven Assembly Shows being performed by Ozzie. Australian Adventure is Ozzie's newest program. In the summer of 1995, Ozzie and his photographer son, Eric, spent 7 weeks in Australia studying its unique wildlife and their habitats. They rented a pickup camper and drove 12,500 miles around the entire country/continent.

Featured in the program are two life-sized models of the red kangaroo. One is made with moveable legs and tail to show the motions of the roo as it jumps.

The Great Dinosaurs is one of the most popular shows and has been performed over 2,500 times! Featured are two extraordinary discoveries: the world's first complete baby dinosaur and one of the best nests of dinosaur eggs from North America. Both specimens were found and prepared by renowned paleontologist, Jack Horner. He was Ozzie's first resource person when the show was created in 1976. More recently, Jack served as Steven Spielberg's top consultant during the filming of Jurassic Park. A highlight of the show is a time-line demonstration of dinosaur history using a class of student helpers.

Whales-Giants of the Ocean uses models of the sperm whale and the blue whale to demonstrate their anatomy and behavior. He also shows real sperm whale teeth, a large vertebra, strips of abaleen and a six foot jaw bone from a humpback whale. The show concludes with a beautiful slide show from Ozzie's whale watching trips.

The Story of Hawaii. Ozzie has made two trips to Hawaii studying the natural history of our most unique state. Student volunteers help Ozzie demonstrate how the islands were formed through 70 million years of volcanic activity. He explains how the Polynesians settled the islands and shows reproductions of their canoes and tools.

Children of the Sun is Ozzie's show on cultural diversity. We are all unique in our backgrounds and beliefs. Ozzie stresses the benefits of living in America today, where we can learn so much about the world from people who have brought their cultures to this land. Ozzie warns against the dangers of prejudice and hate. He makes a strong appeal to the children to tolerate each other's differences.

Viking Roots is a program which encourages students to become more aware of their family history. Ozzie teaches the children how to make a family tree and enourages them to tape record the stories of the older members of the family. Through puppets, slides and story telling, he stresses the value of learning more about the land of one's ancestors.

Wilderness Trails is a show about the workings of Nature. Students help Ozzie demonstrate the food chain. He shows confiscated items from endangered species, including a large polar bear fur and a giant loggerhead turtle shell. Ozzie takes the students on a slide journey of our national parks and teaches them about geysers, volcanoes, glaciers as well as the preservation of wildlife.
