Dr. Jack Horner

Dr. John "Jack" Horner was born and raised in Shelby, Montana, and attended the University of Montana where he majored in geology and zoology. In 1975 he was hired as a research assistant in the Museum of Natural History at Princeton University, where he worked until 1982. That's where Ozzie met him. Jack was Ozzie's first of many resource scientists who helped in the development of his dinosaur show.

From 1982 until the present, Jack has worked at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman,
Montana where he is Curator of Paleontology. Dr. Horner discovered the first dinosaur eggs in the Western Hemisphere, the first evidence of dinosaur colonial nesting, the first evidence of parental care among dinosaurs, and the first dinosaur embryos. Dr. Horner's research covers a wide range of topics about dinosaurs, including their behavior, physiology, ecology, and evolution. Dr. Horner does not hold a formal college degree, but was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Montana in 1986. Also, in 1986, he was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. He has written 35 professional papers, 15 popular articles, co-authored four popular books, and co-edited one technical book. His work has been featured in numerous magazines and television specials. He was the technical advisor for the movie Jurassic Park and its sequel, The Lost World.
